This year’s music industry was filled with the unconventional charms of not only idol singers, but also musicians filled with distinct individuality from various genres such as indie and hip-hop. Therefore, there was a fierce competition for numerous awards in many different categories including the ‘TOP10’, ‘Best Artist Award’, and ‘Best Album Award’.
 

The recipient of the ‘Best Artist Award’ at the ‘2012 Melon Music Awards’ was BEAST, who was awarded this honor last year as well and received three awards altogether. The ‘Best Album Award’ went to Busker Busker, who received one other award, and Psy was the recipient of the ‘Global Artist Award’, along with three other awards, including the ‘T Store Best Song Award’. The ‘Rookie Artist Award’ went to Ailee and B.A.P,

In addition, 2NE1, Busker Busker, BEAST, Big Bang, Psy, SISTAR, IU, Infinite, T-ara, and Huh Gak made the list of ‘TOP10’ awards. Other awards that were given out on this night were ‘Netizen Popularity Award’ (BEAST) and ‘Hot Trend Award’ (HyunA and Hyun Seong’s ‘Troublemaker’). The ‘Music Style Award’, which awards artists according to genre, went to Seo In Guk and Jung Eun Jee’s ‘All For You’ in the OST category, Dynamic Duo in the Rap/Hip-Hop category, K.Will in the R&B/Ballad category, and Maroon5 in the Pop category. Lastly, the ‘Songwriter Award’ was awarded to Level 2 Sidekick, the ‘Music Video Award’ to Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ (Director Cho Soo Hyun), and ‘MBC Music Star Award’ to Super Junior’s Shin Dong and Kim Shin Young.

In particular, the top artists of 2012 attended the ceremony attended the ceremony. The attendees included BEAST, 2NE1, SISTAR, Infinite, T-ara, Nell, Huh Gak, and Ailee, who captured the hearts of fans with special performances. SISTAR showed a performance as cat women staking out a casino while avoiding lasers and surveillance. T-ara donned sexy Santa outfits and displayed a Christmas-like performance using drums. Other performances included B.A.P. who looked as if they were blazing, showing their masculine charisma and Infinite appeared wearing white suits and danced as if they were writing words on stage, while displaying a classic performance using drums. 
 

The ‘2012 Melon Music Awards’ provided a place for artists and their fans to become one. Along with the center stage, four sub-stages were installed to allow performers to get closer to the audience. The artists and MCs performed and hosted the event on these stages while showing vivid images of the staffs. There was also special seating for celebrities, allowing the audience to see the reactions and expressions of the stars, creating an exciting music festival.
